Each summer, Pittsburgh Center for Arts & Media welcomes young artists (aged 6-17) to their Shadyside campus for ten weeks of outstanding, art-focused camps. Taught bachelor’s degree in fashion designing by talented, experienced teachers, summer art camps are a perfect place for budding artists to explore their creativity and create new masterpieces! Pre-Camp & Post-Camp care options are available, as well as tuition assistance. Kids from all over the Pittsburgh region can experience creative and challenging academic, art, and athletic programs from Sewickley Academy’s faculty and partners. Their half-day and full-day summer programs will run from June 9 – Aug. 1, excepting the first week of July.
Teen Summer Fashion Camp From Concept To Creation
Our grandmothers and great-grandmothers did it, making it look easy. This course is aimed at young people willing to express their creativity through the language of fashion. All proceeds from the camp will be dedicated to supporting charitable causes that help individuals and communities worldwide overcome social barriers and realize their full potential.
When you apply you will need to include a Personal Statement, recent transcript, academic letter of reference and a portfolio. Kick off your journey with a comprehensive overview of the fashion industry and discover the myriad career opportunities available. Whether you dream of becoming a designer, stylist, marketer, or trend forecaster, this week is all about gaining clarity on your ideal role in the fashion world. Sustainability is a key focus, and you’ll learn how to incorporate sustainable fashion concepts into your projects.
The program is designed to help students discover or grow their passion for fashion. Therefore, no previous experience is required, just an interest or a passion for these topics. Our design industry professionals and staff are dedicated to mentoring our students on their creative paths, supporting them throughout camp and beyond.
Students ages 7-17 can get a taste of collegiate life this summer at Carnegie Mellon University during these day camps and overnight camps, running from June 16 through Aug. 1. These camps mix STEM skill development and summer fun, allowing kids and teens from beginner to advanced to work alongside new friends and learn from expert tech mentors. Summer camps at Shady Side Academy, designed with working parents in mind, include before-care and free lunch. Kids from pre-K through high school will find a range of weekly camps on four campuses in Fox Chapel and Point Breeze. Sports-minded kids can focus skills on hockey, golf or tennis, while maker kids can choose hands-on STEAM camps. High school kids can take for-credit classes in art, math and science, as well as courses in essay writing and SAT/ACT prep.
Fashion Design For Kids
Immerse yourself in the world of fashion, absorb knowledge from renowned experts, and elevate your skills—all while enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of summer. While many courses teach valuable fashion theory, you might still feel uncertain about the exact steps needed to secure a job or internship in the industry. Typically, half-day sessions run from 9am to 12pm, while full-day sessions span from 9am to 5pm.
This versatile design can be worn as a standalone dress or layered over a t-shirt for a trendy, casual look. Choose from a variety of rayon and cotton fabrics to create a light, breezy fit perfect for warm weather. Sewers can take as many workshops as they like; all are unique and offer amazing starter projects. Once registered, you’ll receive an email with links to required camper forms (due by May 19, 2025).

Sew., we have fun while building confidence, teaching responsibility and encouraging thought-provoking work. The course combines interactive learning with real-world fashion experiences, offering a platform for students to unleash their potential while connecting with like-minded peers. Learn directly from industry specialists at Vogue and Condé Nast, visit designer headquarters, explore cutting-edge exhibitions, and step inside the ateliers and studios that shape global fashion. This is your chance to immerse yourself in the glamour, creativity, and energy of New York’s fashion scene during one of its most enchanting seasons. To close out the week-long program, campers will select work from their portfolio to showcase in a student-curated exhibition opening on White Linen Night at Ogden Museum.

It’s a perfect short-term program to gain valuable, sellable design skills. Designed for aspiring photographers and visual storytellers, this Summer Studio introduces students to the technical and creative skills needed in fashion photography.
This helps ensure personalized attention and a better learning environment. You’ll dive into garment construction, mastering the basics of sewing techniques, pattern-cutting, and draping. You’ll learn how to embellish your creations with pockets, zippers, and buttons, ultimately constructing a cohesive line of wearables.
It’s obvious Ilonka cares about every student that walks through her door and mentors each one of them to reach whatever goal each student sets. Whether you’re a novice beginner or if you want to take your skills to a professional level, ASFD has a class for you. And don’t worry, ASFD isn’t just for kids, adult classes are available as well. Plans will be announced soon for this camp for sports-loving kids. You’ll find plenty of indoor and outdoor half-day camp options, including football, basketball, soccer and baseball.

Kids always have fun learning to Sew, Design and Create Fashion. Our Summer Camps are perfect for beginner and intermediate level sewists, ages 8 – 17. All courses are assessed and you’ll receive a record of study at the end of the programme if you wish to request credit from your home institution.
